Thermal annealing of CBD-grown p-CuO/n-ZnO seeds and its impact on the performance of p-CuO/n-ZnO nanowire based heterojunction photo-detectors

2017
The current work studies the impact of annealing of p-CuO film / n-ZnO seed substrates on the photo-responsivity performance of p-CuO film / n-ZnO nanowire heterojunctions grown on such substrates. Chemical bath deposition (CBD) method has been employed to fabricate the heterojunctions and the as-deposited p-CuO film / n-ZnO seed substrates are annealed at 400 °C. The surface morphology, elemental analysis and crystallographic orientation of both the heterojunctions are investigated by employing SEM, EDAX and XRD. The study suggests that annealing of CuO film / ZnO seed improves photo-detection efficiency in comparison to the as-deposited samples.
