The total synthesis of quisqualic acid

DL-, L- and D-quisqualic acid were synthesized from methyl DL-β-chloro-α-benzamidopropionate. The preliminary biological test showed that the synthetic DL-, L- and the natural quisqualic acid were able to paralyse the activity of earthworm but the D-quisqualic acid had no obvious effect.
