Vegetation auf Dämmen : Landschaftsökologie und Böschungssicherheit am Beispiel der Bever-Talsperre

2005
The windward side of dams can be interesting regarding landscape ecology and nature conservancy, because usually dams are extensively used areas in an intensively used culture landscape. They can be refuge districts for plants and animals and thus they represent important biotopes. At the same time, they have to meet technical demands, primarily stability. The present study was carried out exemplarily at the Bever dam (Bergisches Land), with the results focussing on the unification of both bank safety and ecological potential. To this end, suitable cultivation measures (regular pasturing and sporadic reaping) are suggested.
