The development of a computerized information system for clinicians.

: The need for information to support health care has changed dramatically over the last 100 years, but for most physicians, methods for obtaining it have not. Clinical practice is probably 10 years behind other industries in the use of computers to manage information. This article describes the design principles for a system now being used at Harvard Community Health Plan and some of the benefits of that system.
