The Effect of Linolenic Acid Orally on Platelet Adhesiveness and Fibrinogen Concentration

1969
Six female patients kindly submitted to alternating eight to ten weeks periods of control (15) and oral treatment (9) with linolenic acid 7.5 g daily corresponding to 27 mmol daily. A series of parameters were measured each week to examine lipods, liver function, and coagulation. The plasma fibrinogen concentration decreased during therapy, but none of the other parameters were significantly influenced; the platelet adhesiveness, however, tended to increase.
