Itisimportant todetermine thesegment-by- segmentdistribution of the faultcurrentin a multi- grounded powernetwork forbetterpowersystemoperation and grounding structure design.Inthispaper,a newmethodfor the analysis of groundfaultcurrentdistribution along underground cables(and/or overheadlines)is presented. The methodis sufficiently accurateand comprehensive to simultaneously consider allthesignificant variables.The equivalent circuit developed utilizes bothlumpedanddis- tributed parameters.Themethodisbasedonthesuccessive computation ofdrivingpointimpedance matricesat each grounding structure location. Simulations havebeendoneon a computer.Verification studiesandvariousparametric studies havebeenperformed.
