Marine Fisheries Resources and Oceanography of the St. Lawrence Estuary

1990
Analyses of the limited landing statistics available on commercially exploited species indicate that less than 1% of the marine fish and invertebrate catches of Atlantic Canada come from the St. Lawrence Estuary. Physical processes appear to be more influential than trophodynamic interactions in determining the presence and distribution of most marine species exploited in the Estuary. The effect of hydrodynamic processes operating within the Estuary is not confined to the estuarine boundaries but is felt far beyond by marine organisms from the Gulf of St. Lawrence to possibly the Gulf of Maine.
