Pneumopathie à Bordetella bronchiseptica chez des sidéens

1995
Summary We report two cases of pneumonia due to Bordetella bronchiseptica in patients with HIV infection. One of them was presenting as the first opportunistic infection. History of animal contacts was reported. The patients were cured with ofloxacin, which has been found bactericidal in vitro . In patients with HIV presenting respiratory symptoms and exposed to animals, pathogenic role of B. bronchiseptica should be suspected. A bronchoalveolar lavage is necessary to allow isolations of B. bronchiseptica and antimicrobial susceptibility tests including broth dilution tests, since appropriate treatment has not been yet established.
