Overvoltage protection device

2012
Disclosed is a overvoltage protection device, comprising: an inner housing and an outer housing mutually nested to form an containing space, an electrode group disposed in the containing space, the electrode group comprising an upper electrode, a lower electrode, a trigger electrode and a trigger element; a discharge module is disposed in the containing space, the discharge module comprising a first component and a second component; the upper electrode, the lower electrode, the trigger electrode and the trigger element are arranged within the first component and the second component, a discharge channel is provided between the upper electrode and the lower electrode; the discharge channel extending in an arc shape on a plane, when the trigger electrode and the trigger element generate an electric trigger arc, the electric trigger arc enters the discharge channel; the electric trigger arc in the discharge channel induces the generation of a electric gap arc between the upper electrode and the lower electrode, and an electric connection therebetween. The overvoltage protection device is capable of better cooling the electric arc gas in the discharge module, and reliably assisting the breaking of working frequency follow-on current and preventing the re-ignition of the electric arc gas in the discharge module.
