Por qué TransMilenio en Bogotá está en crisis

The implementation in 2000 of the rapid transit bus system (RTB) in Bogota, through the creation of the company TransMilenio, was seen in principle as the solution to the mobility problems characteristic of large cities. However, with the passage of time, the TransMilenio system presented several problems (high ticket prices, inefficiency to satisfy the growing demand, protests, blockades, long lines, corruption problems, among others), which intensified and ended in a multidimensional crisis (financial, technical, socio-cultural, urbanistic and political-administrative) in this mass transport system. Nevertheless, although these problems have been studied, the studies have focused on the explanations from the technical and financial point of view, leaving aside the importance of analysis from disciplines relevant to urban planning, such as political science. It is necessary to develop an investigation that, from a political, administrative and social point of view, evidences the structural reasons that have until nowadays the mass transport system TransMilenio submerged in a crisis.
