US NAVY CAD/CAM PROGRAM HULL STRUCTURE
1981
This paper is a status report on the development of HULSTRX and its integration into the US Navy CAD/CAM Programme; it presents the implementation of the system which was outlined at the 1979 meeting of IREAPS. The HULSTRX program effort is aimed at the development of a ship data base containing the locations and scantlings of all hull structural members based upon an established description of the internal and external hull geometry. The data base will be used for three purposes: 1. Development of structural contract design guidance drawings; 2. Dissemination of pertinent structural information to other areas of ship design such as arrangement developments, weight estimation and distributive systems backgrounds and composites; 3. As an aid to the development of structural details, fabrication drawings and generation of N/C data.
