Concentração dos metabólitos de estradiol e progesterona fecais no cachorro-do-matovinagre (Speothos venaticus) (Lund, 1842) pelos métodos de radioimunoensaio e Quimioluminescência

2016
The objective of this study was to compare two methods of hormone concentration assessment (chemiluminescence and radioimmunoassay) in lyophilized fecal extracts from bush dogs (Speothos venaticus) to verify which gives more accurate in results. One hundred and sixty-six fecal samples from two females (female A, n = 80 and female B, n = 86) at Ilha Solteira Zoo – SP, were collected from March through December 2005. Samples were lyophilized before fecal metabolite hormonal extraction. Estradiol and progesterone concentrations were assessed using commercially available kits for human hormone analyses. Both methods results were compared by (test statistics). According to Pearson and Tukey tests, the methods had comparable results (P > 0,05). There was no significant difference between methods, showing the non-invasive monitoring of fecal metabolite hormonal contribued to the determination of metabolites concentrations for each female in this study. It demonstrates the suitability and similarity of chemiluminescence and radioimmunoassay for quantification of estradiol and progesterone fecal metabolites in Speothos venaticus species
