TERMINOLOGIA ANATOMICA’DA YER ALAN HAREKET SİSTEMİ İLE İLGİLİ TERİMLERDE BULUNAN SIFATLARIN İNCELENMESİ

2020
Terminology is integral to prevent confusion in science and to establish effective and accurate communication among researchers. The goal of this study is to contribute to the limited knowledge of medical and anatomical terminology in our country. Today, the number of terms used in Medical terminology is around 170,000. Approximately 10,000 of these terms are anatomical. The terms are originated in Latin and Greek. The majority of them used in medical terminology consist of nouns, adjectives, and numbers. Our study is based on the movement system (pages 1 - 46) in Terminologia Anatomica. Terms and their adjectives are evaluated in terms of origin, grade, and shape. The results are presented in a table for each section. We found that the Latin adjectives are more commonly used than Greek adjectives in the terms. The two-used adjectives shape are the most used in the terms. In terms of degrees, while the most repeated adjectives are comparative ones, the most common adjective is positivus. As a result, we examine the feature, effects, and usage of adjectives in the movement system terms. We hope that results help the researchers to develop the terminology for medical education and to contribute to understanding the anatomy.
