A new soybean germplasm with high resistance to SMV

1994
A new soybean germplasm, 8101, resistant to soybean mosaic virus (SMV), has been developed by hybridization between cultivar Youbian-30 and semi-wild soybean Ye-2. Their F_(2)is backcrossed with 7902-4, and F_(2) of this backcrossed again with 40354, and then selected by using the modified pedigree and bulk selection procedure. A total number of 65 varieties (lines )were determinated by 130 isolates of three SMV strain groups in 1992-1994. The results showed that, among all of the 65 varieties (lines) tested, only 8101 was resistant to all isolates. In addition, it is high-yielding. Therefore, it is a good germplasm resistant to SMV.
