Phenylacetate affects the expressions of c-myc and Caspase-3 in rat c6 glioma cells

2008
Objective To study the effects of differentiation inducer phenylacetate(PA) on the expression of c-myc and Caspase-3 in rat C6 glioma cells and explore the mechanism of PA action. Methods C6 glioma cells were cultured in vitro. In experiment group,C6 cells were induced by PA at concentration of 5.0mmol/L for 72 hours. In control group,no PA was administrated. The expression of c-myc and Caspase-3 was detected by using an immunocytochemistry technique. The differernces of the imaging presentation in the two groups were analyzed. Results The expressions of c-myc in control group and experiment group were 0.214±0.013 and 0.153±0.007,respectively,while the expression of Caspase-3 were 0.149±0.004 and 0.206±0.033,respectively.Conclusion PA can down-regulate the expression of c-myc and enhance the expression of Caspase-3,which might consequently induce apoptosis in C6 glioma cells.
