Compositional micro-oscillations in ion-bombarded Fe-35Ni-7Cr

The compositional micro-oscillations observed in neutron-irradiated Fe-35.5Ni-7.5Cr at 593/sup 0/C and 38 dpa have also been found in Fe-35.0Ni-7.0Cr irradiated with nickel ions to 117 dpa at 625/sup 0/C. The period of the oscillations found in both specimens is on the order of 200 to 400 nm. During irradiation the matrix of this alloy subdivides toward near-stoichiometric zones of Fe/sub 3/Ni and FeNi, with chromium substituting for iron.
