SUMMARY INTRODUCTION: dementia is considered one of the major geriatric syndromes that can be produced by different etiologies which include primary neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, infections, metabolic or endocrine disorders. CASE REPORT: an older women presents parkinsonian symptoms, memory impairment, affective disorder and significant weight loss. Under presumptive diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, patient received treatment with dopaminergic agent without symptomatic improvement. A brain magnetic resonance imaging showed a lession in left frontal hemisphere. Craneoctomy with tumor resection was performed and reported as a meningioma. Subsequently, she developed episodic and working memory deficits, and her visuo-constructive and ejecutive functions were affected. An interdiciplinary assessment team determined a diagnosis of secondary dementia due to brain tumor.
