CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF (5-NITRO-2-PIPERIDINO)BENZYLIDENE PARATOLUENE SULFONYLHYDRAZONE

(5-nitro-2-piperidino)benzylidene paratoluene sulfonylhydrazone, C 19 H 22 N 4 O 4 S, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 /n with four molecules per unit cell. The lattice parameters arc a=7.749(3)A, b=27.244(7)A, c=9.456 (4)A, β=91.542 (1)°. The crystal structure lias been solved by direct methods and refined to a final R value of 0.0678 for 2868 observed reflections with I>2.5σ(I). In the structure, the piperidine ring occurs in a chair conformation.
