Development of a petri net‐based simulator for factory automation systems

1996
This paper presents K-NET, a general-purpose simulator for factory automation (FA) systems, that stimulates a system model based on Petri net. First, net elements for modeling, the model editing function, and the simulation function are explained; and then a planning system is described for automatic storage/retrieval systems that utilize the K-NET simulation function, which automatically generates a simulation model, animates the system behavior, and evaluates system performance. Finally, a distributed simulator for large FA systems and an example application of the tool are described.
