Numerical study of hybrid metasurface as WPT transmitter

2020
In this work hybrid metasurface as a transmitter for wireless power transfer has been proposed and numerically studied. It consists of two layers of orthogonally arranged printed conductors, spaced a given distance. Hybrid substrate include inserts of high permittivity ceramic plates. Fine tuning of the resonance frequency of the metasurface can be achieved by selecting the size and permittivity of the ceramic parts. Large metasurface area (39 × 39 cm2) make it possible to place several receivers on it for simultaneous charging. The resonator under study was tuned to a frequency of 26.9 MHz, at which distribution of the electric and magnetic fields was analyzed. Design of metasurface allows spatial separation of the electric and magnetic fields. The electric field above the structure is 50 times lower than between the layers of conductors.
