Glioblastoma multiforme: Treatment with radiation and trhodothyronine

1976
Abstract An analysis of patients with glioblastoma who were treated at the University of Chicago showed that (a) 32 patients who received surgery and irradiation (5000–6000 rad) had a median survival of 30 weeks; (b) 18 patients who received surgery, radiation (4200 rad), and triiodothyrosdne had a median survival of 60 weeks. A detailed analysis of the age, sex, clinical status of the patients, location, and pathology of the tumors showed no significant difference between the two groups. The marked increase in survival may indicate a radlosensitizing property of triiodothyronine.
