Use of basic fibroblast growth factor following nasal radiofrequency for epistaxis

2011
Objective To explore the effects of basic fibroblast growth factor ( bFGF ) following nasal radiofrequency on repair of nasal mucosa. Methods 93 patients with epistaxis underwent nasal radiofrequency and then were assigned to receive topical use of either oculentum aureomycini ( 35 patients, control group ) or bFGF ( 58 patients, study group ).The efficacy was compared between the two groups. Results There was a significant difference in the cure rate between the study group and the control group ( 91.4% vs.65.7%,P < 0.05 ).Conclusions bFGF has a promotive effect on repair of nasal mucosa after radiofrequency.
