Barkhausen noise application research in RPV irradiation embrittlement detection

Irradiation embrittlement appears due to Reactor Pressure Vessels (RPV) service under strong neutron irradiation for a long time. It is an important reason of accelerating the aging of RPV. As a special part of nuclear power plant (NPP), it decides the life of the whole NPP. Thus, it is necessary to estimate the current state of embrittlement and predict the trends of embrittlement through a new method. In order to predict the degree of RPV steel irradiation embrittlement and development trends and take the particularity of neutrons into consideration, this paper simulates the effects of neutron irradiation based on using different charged particles to replace neutron and using Barkhausen noise technology to detect the irradiation embrittlement of “Irradiation Steel”. Explore the relationship between the degree of Irradiation embrittlement of “Irradiation Steel” and charged particle irradiation dose. Finally, it draws conclusions that different charged particles have certain relevance in the aspect of irradiation and the characteristic values of BN signal have the overall tendency that they reduce along with the increase of irradiation dose. The inclusions build up references for irradiation embrittlement research of RPV steel under neutron irradiation.
