First look at NA52 data on Pb-Pb interactions at 158 A {center_dot} GeV/c

We have searched for strange matter particles, so-called {ital strangelets}, in Pb-Pb interactions at {ital p}{sub lab}=157.7 GeV/{ital c} per nucleon. The NA52 apparatus is also ideally suited to measure production yields and rapidity distribution of {pi}{sup {plus_minus}}, K{sup {plus_minus}}, p, {bar p}, d, {bar d}, ... near 0{sup 0} production angle.
