Comparative Study of Schizotrypanum cruzi Chagas, 1909 and S. vespertilionis (Battaglia, 1904) from Costa Rica.
1958
In a previous note (Zeled6n and Vieto, 1957) we referred to the presence of Schizotrypanum vespertilionis in the Costa Rican bats Glossophaga soricina leachii and Hemiderma perspicillatum aztecum. In the present paper, we report a comparative morphological study of that interesting flagellate and 2 strains of S. cruzi from Costa Rica. We shall also discuss the identity of the strains of Schizotrypanum from Chiroptera found in several American countries using data of workers who have furnished adequate published information. Appreciation is expressed to Dr. Clark P. Read for advice in the preparation of the manuscript.
