An improved system for quantitative sampling of benthos in shallow water using the flushing technique

Abstract The flushing sampler for sampling benthos in shallow water, described by the authors in 1975, has been modified. By means of a valve in the apparatus and a reversible water-supply system, the sampler can suck itself into the sediment. These modifications also make it easier to lift the apparatus out of the sediment.
