2016
There has been increase in the number of Android users in the recent years. Varieties of apps lure the users to install them in their smartphones. Though while installing the apps, generally users do not read the App permissions requested. This paper explores various categories of Android apps. Usually, the users install the android apps without looking at the permissions requested by the apps. In this paper we have tried to classify apps on the basis of the set of permissions requested so that the user can judge which apps are safe to install and which apps are not. The major contributions of this paper include: (1) Defining a GP-PP classification model for android apps based on the permissions requested by the apps (2) Testing and validation of the proposed model. And finally it provides an insight into how users can make a cautious decision while installing Android Apps.
