Frequency Regulation in Deregulated Power Markets: A Review

2019
This paper presents an overview on the frequency regulation of deregulated power market using various techniques. The conventional sources are limited and its scarcity has contributed to its high price. Not only is it expensive but it also has detrimental effect to the environment by playing a major role in global warming. With the increased penetration of Electric vehicles (EV) in the system it can be used for mitigating frequency unbalances caused mainly by supply-load imbalances. Due to their fast active power controllability and energy storing capabilities makes them quite interesting area for various ancillary services they might provide. Here, the discussion has been made for mainly about the various kinds of frequency regulating techniques researched on, the advantages they are having and what further research can be incorporated to make them more appreciable.
