The challenge before African media

Although most Sub-Saharan African States have become free nearly two decades ago, in many ways they are victims of a new form of colonialism. The structures set up by former colonial masters, barring a few are still intact. In fact the social, religious, economic and cultural legacies handed down by the imperial overlords still permeate all facets of Sub-Saharan African life. Sub-Saharan Africa's media technology and practice is a testimony to this neocolonial grip. As the late Professor Frank Ugboajah rightly observed:
