Versatile methods for the synthesis of differentially functionalized pentaerythritol amine derivatives

We have developed strategies for the monofunctionalization of pentaerythritol or pentaerythritol tetraamine that efficiently minimize the difficulties encountered in handling carbohydrate-like intermediates. These methods have been used to prepare a number of new functionalized TAME derivatives. (TAME: 1,1,1-tris(aminomethyl) ethane)
