Experimental study on the effect of bone-strengthening tablet in strengthening the bone density in animals

2006
Objective To expporethe the effect of a bone-strengthening tablet with calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and daidzein as its major components in increasing bone density in animals. Methods Rats were orally given the tablet at doses of 0.234g/kg·bw,0.467g/kg·bw、1.401g/kg·bw for 12 weeks. The body height, the weight femur,The content of calcium in femur and density of the femur were determined . Results As compared with those in the low-calcium control group, the final body height and the net height increment, the content of mineral substance in the central part and end part of the femur, bone density, bone weight, calcium content in the femur and total calcium amount, calcium ingested, calcium in feces and urine of the rats in the experimental groups were significantly higher(P0.01,P0.05),whereas apparent digestibility and storage rate were significantly lower(P0.01,P0.05). Conclusion This tablet could increase bone density.
