Objective: Review and how the nurse acts on the emotional aspects of the family member who takes care of Alzheimer's patients. Methods: This is an exploratory descriptive study in which we chose methods of Integrative Literature Review (RIL) in which we searched through the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) databases and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS). Results: It was identified that when taking the main care, the family member becomes more likely to develop emotional instability resulting in anxiety, depression and stress, which leads to or compromises their own care, as well as that which is provided to the Alzheimer's patient.  Final considerations: Family caregivers face physical adversities and psychosocials for which they are not prepared, but that when supported in a multidisciplinary way, and especially with the creation of a bond with nursing, it becomes possible to build strategies that minimize the difficulties experienced.
