In vitro Evaluation of Neem Based Formulations against Anthracnose of Chilli Caused by Colletotrichum capsici (Butler and Bisby)

2014
Investigation on anthracnose (Colletotrichum capsici) Butler and Bisby of chilli under north Karnataka conditions was carried out in the Plant Pathology Lab., Dept. of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Dharwad. Agricultural University, Dharwad to find out suitable management strategies. Due to hazardous effect of chemical fungicides, search for safer alternative to control the pathogen is better choice. This led to trials on the use of neem based formulations to control the pathogen. The neem based formulations such as Neem Gold (300ppm), Achook (1500ppm) and Neem Fighter (10,000ppm) were evaluated by poison food technique at five different concentrations. The results revealed that out of all the four neem based formulations used, three neem based formulations were able to inhibited completely the growth of the pathogen mycelia significantly, Neem Fighter (1500ppm) which showed 75.61% of inhibition of mycelial growth of C. capsici.
