The time-of-flight spectrometer with cold neutrons at the FRM-II

2000
Abstract We are presenting a design study of the new cold-time-of-flight spectrometer to be built at the FRM-II. Monte Carlo techniques were used to optimize the flux at the sample position and to calculate the elastic energy resolution. A doubly focusing neutron guide is used to enhance the intensity on the sample. Magnetic bearings and carbon fiber composite disks will give access to very high chopper speeds, thereby considerably increasing the overall performance of the instrument.
