Health physics evaluation of options for high-level radioactive wastes disposal in the US
1983
In this presentation, the following areas are included for discussion: the need for a high level waste disposal program; the legal and regulatory framework from which options are to be selected; the technical features of the most likely candidate options; the maximum radiation exposures which may be expected from each; and the cost of developing the options. Recent studies are cited which provide a measure for evaluating the most important issue of radiation safety - that dose which present and future generations may experience from the candidate system. 23 references, 4 tables.
