An ophthalmological handheld device, in particular a phacoemulsification handheld device comprising a sonotrode (1) arranged in a housing, the sonotrode (1) comprising a rear part (9) having a vibration drive (2), a middle part (8) and a front part (7) used to transmit the vibration to a tool, characterised in that the sonotrode (1) is dimensioned in such a manner that operation at a frequency of more than 50 kHz is possible. The invention also describes a sonotrode for an ophthalmological handheld device.
