Zum richtigen Umgang mit Impfstoffen und Tuberkulin Nebenwirkungen und Wirksamkeitversluste sollen vermieden werden

2001
Vaccines are sensitive biological drugs. It is essential to observe certain minimum requirements so that their efficacy and tolerance do not suffer.Important apects that must be borne in mind at all times for vaccination to be successful and effective are ○ Correct storage and transportation ○ Correct drawing up of the vaccine ○ Correct dosage Attention must also be given to safe intramuscular administration - most vaccines being injected into the detoideus muscle or (in the case of children and babies only) into the vastus lateralis muscle. Accidental injection into the subcutis -especially in the case of adsorbet vaccines -leads to unnecessary local reactions, which can even take the form of sterile abscesses at the injection site in extreme cases. Accidental intravascular injection of vaccines can lead to shock reactions, and even to a medicamentous embolism in the skin if arterioles are affected. The Mendel-Mantoux method is preferable to the replica plating method for tuberlin testing, being far more accurate. It is essential to master the intracutaneous injection technique for this, however, mainly to avoid false test results.
