Green Tea Consumption on Serum Lipids and Blood Sugar Levels in Puducherry Subjects

Green tea is the most important beverage which is used worldwide. It has become a subject of interest because of the beneficial effects on human health in recent years. Consumption of green tea has been associated with cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, associated with reduced incidence of cardiovascular mortality, stroke and myocardial infarction. In our study, Green tea extract is given orally for the students and staff of our college for about two months and found that green tea reduces the Cholesterol, Triglyceride, LDL and the ratio of Cholesterol HDL/HDL but there is no much change in blood glucose and HDL levels when compared with the baseline values. The results of this study say that green tea has a significant effect on lipid profile. Besides that, green tea is capable of improving the impaired kidney function.
