Fatigue Detection in Anaesthesiologists Using Digital Image Processing Techniques

This paper presents the design and construction of a system for detecting fatigue considered as one of the possible causes of errors in anaesthesiology. In order to contribute to the solution of this problem for the patient safety, a solution was designed by implementing a computer vision system, capable of discriminating and alert, the presence of anaesthesiologist fatigue identifying it by detecting physiological characteristics such as: eyelid opening degree, frequency and duration of blinking and conjunctival congestion.
