Demencia frontotemporal en psiquiatría.

2013
Understanding dementia and cognitive impairment as done classically diffuse (focusing on the cognitive and subtracting interest to psychiatric and behavioral components) makes the diagnosis of focal degenerative syndromes. Frontotemporal dementia usually starts with diverse psychiatric symptoms, so often in its early stages is handled exclusively by the psychiatrist. In most cases delayed and proper diagnosis and therapeutic management both psychopharmacological and psychosocial. A patient in adulthood shows progressive changes in personality, behavior disorders and loss of judgment associated, should alert the possibility of this diagnosis. We report the case of a patient of 56 years than in the previous year received various psychiatric diagnoses: Mixed anxiety-depressive disorder, personality disorder and agoraphobia, finally, it was the beginning of a frontal type dementia. It highlights the need to pay attention to psychiatric and behavioral components of this entity.
