Biometric PersonalIdentification Based on Iris Recognition

With an increasing emphasison security, automated personal identification basedonbiometrics hasbeen receiving extensive attention overthepastdecade.Iris recognition, asanemerging biometric recognition approach is becoming averyactive topic inbothresearch andpractical applications, Irisrecognition istheprocess ofrecognizing a personbyanalyzing theapparent pattern ofhisorheriris. A typical irisrecognition systemincludes irisimaging, iris detection, feature extraction andrecognition. Inthis work,we illustrate theexisting techniques utilized atthedifferent stages oftheiris recognition process andevaluate their performance. In addition, we explore additional techniques toimprove performance.
