Applied research of serum procalcitonin in identifying children with not typification purulent meningitis and viral encephalitis

Objective To study the applied value of serum procalcitonin in identifying children with not typification purulent meningitis and viral encephalitis. Methods 30 children with not typification purulent meningitis in our hospital from April 2009 to April 2012 were randomly selected as the observation group, 30 children with viral encephalitis were selected as the control group. The serum procalcitonin,C-reactive protein and white blood cell count values of the two groups were measured, compared the applied value of the serum procalcitonin,C-reactive protein and white blood cell count values in identifying children with not typification purulent meningitis and viral encephalitis. Results Compared with the control group ,the serum procalcitonin numerical comparison of the observation group had significant differences, (P 0.05).C-reactive protein had no significant difference(P 0.05),white blood cell count had no significant difference(P 0.05). Conclusion When children with not typification purulent meningitis,the serum procalcitonin value is significantly increased; when children with viral encephalitis,the serum procalcitonin numerical increases not obviously.Serum procalcitonin has a greater application value in the identification of children with not typification purulent meningitis and viral encephalitis,it's worthy for promotion.
