Beam Supply for High Power Ion Thruster Research Based on Soft Switch Technology

For beam supply of ion thruster power processing unit (PPU), a design method combining double full bridge zero-voltage and zero-current switching(ZVZCS) technology with phase shift/PWM control is proposed according to the development trend of wide output, high efficiency and miniaturization. On the basis of satisfying the wide range voltage output of beam supply, the method realizes ZVZCS, reduces switching losses, and improves operating efficiency. The working principle of this topology is analyzed in the article, and circuit is simulated and analyzed by MATLAB software. The results show that the topology can realize wide-range of output voltage and keep the ZVZCS state of the switching tube. It conforms to the wide-range of output voltage and high-efficiency operating of beam supply, and meets its working index.
