22 cases of neck schwannoma

2017
Objective To investigate the clinical features and treatment of neck schwannoma. Methods Twenty-two cases of neck schwannoma were surgically treated. All cases underwent ultrasound and MRI scan before operation. Results The ultrasound diagnostic coincidence rate was 63.6%(14/22); the MRI diagnostic coincidence rate was 90.9% (20/22). The twenty-two cases were followed up 6 months to 10 years. No recurrence was found in 20 cases; one case recurred within 1 year and one after 3 year. One case developed hoarseness after operation and the symptom disappeared after 3 months. One case developed upper limb pain and weak and relieved after 1 year. Conclusion Imageological examination is very important in antidiastole for neck schwannoma. The tumor should be resected as soon as possible once the diagnosis is confirmed. In order to avoid complications, nervous function should be protected during operation. Key words: Neck tumor; Schwannoma; Surgery
