Common Peroneal Nerve Palsy after Retrograde Popliteal Artery Puncture

2002
We present a case of common peroneal nerve palsy (CPNP) due to a popliteal haematoma that developed after the percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) of a superficial femoral artery (SFA) occlusion using the retrograde popliteal artery puncture (RPAP). To our knowledge, CPNP has never been reported following RPAP. Vascular interventionalists should be aware of this complication which may be the only manifestation of a large popliteal haematoma.
