Observations of Gamma‐Ray Bursts with INTEGRAL

2006
The INTEGRAL satellite has two coded‐mask γ‐ray instruments; the spectrometer (SPI) which is optimised for high resolution γ‐ray line spectroscopy, and the imager (IBIS) which can localise GRBs to a precision of a few arcminutes. INTEGRAL was launched 3 years ago and the INTEGRAL Burst Alert System (IBAS) has detected 33 long duration GRBs, the most intense burst by far being GRB 041219 which also had prompt optical emission associated with it. The γ‐ray properties of some of these bursts are presented with particular emphasis on spectral results. A subset of 6 GRBs were observed with XMM‐Newton and a selection of these results is presented. New results from recent GRBs are also discussed.
