Re-operation After Robotic Inguinal Hernia Repair

2019
The reoperation rate after inguinal hernia repair is low because few inguinal hernias recur. However, due to the large number of inguinal hernias repaired worldwide, some patients require reoperation. The use of robotic inguinal hernia surgery is increasing, and surgeons need appropriate strategies for reoperation after a failed robotic repair. Although there are few published guidelines, principles can be applied from the minimally invasive/laparoscopic experience with inguinal hernia repair. This chapter reviews strategies to address reoperation after robotic inguinal hernia repair and presents management options.
