Introduction: Psychoactive substances (SPA) is a contemporary term to define compounds thatalter the function of the nervous system through the release of dopamine, causing chemical dependence.Objective: To identify the epidemiological profile of women users of psychoactive substances in theNortheast region between 2008 and 2018. Methodology: Epidemiological study with data from the SUSHospital Information System (SIH/SUS). Data regarding hospitalizations, mortality rates and number ofdeaths in women during the 2008-2018 period were included following the ICD-10 Morbidity List. Theanalysis and data processing were made from electronic spreadsheets. Results and discussion: Hospitaladmissions in women users of SPA were registered (n=11,244). A total of 120 deaths in female SPA userswere registered. The mortality rate was 1.10. Conclusion: The profile of female SPA users in the Northeastwas of black and brown women as adults.
