Computer aided mapping/drafting performance is limited by plotter capability

1988
Experience with a computer-aided mapping/drafting system using a pen plotter as the output device is discussed. The pen plotter proved to be an unacceptable bottleneck for system productivity, since it took an average of roughly three hours to plot a detail map or special-project map. To overcome this bottleneck, an electrostatic plotter was purchased. Plotting time has been reduced from hours to six minutes or less with multiple-copy capacity. >
