S YNTttETIC adhesives have been ut i l ized bo th expe r imen ta l l y a n d in the correct ion of ce r ta in disorders of the cen t ra l ne rvous system. Because of its ease of app l ica t ion and rap id se t t ing , even in a mois t e n v i r o n m e n t , m e t h y l ~ eyanoac ry l a t e monomer seemed su i tab le for cl inical t r ial . To tes t possible adverse t issue reac t ions , var ious sites in exper imenta l a n i m a l s were exposed to the mater ia l . Large vessel reac t ion was tes ted on the fenmra l a n d ca ro t id arteries. T h e effect on three c o m p a r t m e n t s of the cen t ra l ne rvous sys tem were e v a l u a t e d : the s u b d u r a l space over ly ing the cerebra l cortex, the suba rachno id space via the e is terna m a g n a , and the s u b d u r a l space over the thoracic spinal cord. E a s t m a n 910 m o n o m e r a n d E a s t n m n 910 adhes ive gave ident ica l resul ts and will be discussed together.:~ Cats and rabb i t s were used; no species differences were noted.
